How Gima Agribusiness Empowers Farmers Beyond Products
October 28, 2025

Introduction

Uganda’s agriculture is the backbone of its economy, but it’s increasingly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change — erratic rainfall, prolonged droughts, and pest outbreaks. The question is: how can farmers adapt and thrive in these conditions?

What Is Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA)?

Climate-smart agriculture is a holistic approach that integrates sustainable farming practices with climate resilience and productivity. It focuses on three key goals:

  1. Increasing productivity and income
  2. Building resilience to climate change
  3. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Our Role at Gima Agribusiness

Through our participation in the Ag-BDS Ecosystem Enhancement Project (ABEEP), we are equipping farmers with practical tools, improved seeds, and advisory support to help them transition to CSA methods.
We promote:

  • Drought-tolerant crop varieties
  • Integrated pest management
  • Efficient fertilizer use
  • Agroforestry and soil conservation techniques

The Result

Farmers adopting CSA not only improve their yields but also protect the environment for future generations.
At Gima Agribusiness, we believe that climate-smart agriculture isn’t just a trend — it’s the foundation for Uganda’s sustainable food future.
